The CXO resume is a different document
Above a certain level, your resume stops being a record of jobs and becomes a case for a thesis.
Mid-career resumes answer "what did you do?" Executive resumes answer "what do you make happen?" Boards and search committees reading for CEO, CRO, CFO and country-head seats are not verifying employment. They are testing a leadership thesis.
Lead with the thesis
Start with a four-line profile that names your territory: "Turnaround and scale-up CEO for lending businesses; two books taken from stress to top-quartile returns; deep RBI and rating-agency fluency; Mumbai-based, mobile." Every line after this is evidence.
Evidence at this level
- P&L outcomes: profit, ROA, cost-income movement on your watch
- Balance-sheet events: capital raises, rating actions, regulatory settlements
- Builds: businesses, teams and franchises created from zero
- Board and regulator exposure: committees chaired, inspections navigated
What disappears
Early roles compress to one line each. Tools, processes and task lists vanish entirely. Anything that could appear on a manager's resume should not appear on yours - at this altitude, scope is the story.
Length and tone
Two to three pages, restrained. Superlatives read as insecurity at CXO level. The strongest executive resumes are almost flat in tone, because the numbers are doing the talking.
